- Enthusiastic and Nurturing Teachers and Staff
The City’s new $5.5 million state-of-the-art
Charter School will house 600 students in grades K-5th and be operated
by Charter Schools USA based on a management agreement with the City.
Aventura Charter Elementary School Will Promote:
- The belief that all children can develop as intellectual learners,
function as good citizens, grow as individuals in our society, and
develop as contributors to our community.
- The value of traditional classroom teachers and their ability to
constructively influence our children's learning and behavioral
patterns.
- The role of parents and other family members as a positive impact on
our students.
- The development of good morals and useful skills in preparing our
students to be functioning citizens.
- The synergy of low teacher-pupil ratio, goal-oriented curriculum, and
the teaching experience of a carefully selected staff to provide
consistency between our mission and our educational program.
The City of Aventura is proud to announce the Fall 2003 opening of
Aventura Charter Elementary School (ACES), the first public elementary
school within the City's boundaries. The opening of ACES showcases the
City's changing demographics, from a community of predominately
retiree-aged residents to one including a growing number of younger
families.
The 5.5 million dollar state-of-the-art school will be constructed on 3
acres adjacent to the planned Community/Recreation Center.
By focusing on low student-teacher ratios, high academic standards and
parental participation, ACES will provide a first-class school for the
City of Aventura's children.
City of Aventura Boundaries:
Aventura is conveniently located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, just
east of I-95. The northern boundary of the City is the
Miami-Dade/Broward County line, the western is the FEC Railroad, the

176th Street. To visit our city, take I-95 to Ives Dairy Road and head
East on Ives Dairy to Biscayne Boulevard.
The Aventura Charter Elementary School will be located at 3333 NE 188th
Street and will be adjacent to the City's Community/Recreation Center
that will allow the sharing of facilities between the Charter School and
Community/Recreation Center.
Mission
The Aventura Charter Elementary Charter School will:
- Provide students with tools and skills needed to realize their highest
level of achievement.
- Strive for academic, social and physical excellence by providing a
quality and challenging curriculum.
- Promote positive moral and social values.
- Foster an atmosphere of self-discipline in a safe learning
environment.
- Maximize individual productivity to meet the needs of a changing
world.
PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization)
The Aventura Charter Elementary School welcomes you to the first of many
exciting years of educational success for your child. Part of that
success is attributed to the enthusiasm of our parents to become an
active component of their child's educational career.
The school requires that parents volunteer twenty hours of service to
the school each academic year. It is our belief that once parents become
involved, they will exceed the required twenty hours. Volunteer
activities will be as diverse as the professions and vocational
backgrounds of our parent constituency.
Activities will range from office clerical work to editorial and
artistic services; organizing and hosting school events; fundraising;
chaperoning field trips and numerous other activities. In addition,
parents are expected to keep up-to-date with the curriculum and calendar
events affecting their child, work with their child's teachers and
advisor to set goals through personal learning plans, and nurture the
child's academic and social development.
We look forward to a challenging and exciting school year.
Student Body
The Aventura Charter Elementary School will open Fall 2003. The maximum
class size will not be greater than 20 students in Kindergarten and 25
students in Grades 1-5. Preference will be given to residents of the
City of Aventura (proof of residency required at time of registration).
